Let's take off in the blue

We've booked a holiday! For years and years we've both wanted to visit British Columbia and thought if we procrastinated any more we'd never get around to doing it, so we bit the bullet. We got brochures and decided what seemed most like what we wanted to do; booked it and paid the deposit. It should be great: sight-seeing in Vancouver for a couple of days then touring Vancouver Island, walking and cycling and bear watching and whale watching (which is why today we bought new hardware - being indecisive can prove very expensive - to take pictures of things that are actually there, not pictures of where they were two seconds ago) and geocaching and paddling in the Pacific and visiting the actual border which my great-great-great grandfather determined and all stuff like that.

Then BA cabin crew voted for strike action.

If they cock up our first forrin holiday for over 15 years I'll be very, very, VERY cross.

Sounds like a dream holiday. Hope BA don't spoil it for you!

Wooo hooo. Good for you.
While you're in Vancouver, visit Stanley Park where you'll be able to see Orca and Beluga whales close at hand. (Or you could when I was there about 17 years ago).
And, if you've a head for heights, Capilano Bridge in north Vancouver shouldn't be missed.
After doing Vancouver, we hired a motorhome and trekked across to the Rockies which were truly spectacular but I found the space between the coast and the Rockies really boring. We went in May and Lake Louise had just begun to thaw - the most fantastic turquoise colour. Hope you have a really lovely holiday.

Sounds ace! Hope you have a brillo time!
If I were a BA employee, I'd be quaking in my boots after reading that :)

Trouty, the hotel we're booked into in Vancouver is very close to Stanley Park, so exploring that's a given.

I'm trying not to look forward to it too much, to avoid tempting Fate and being disappointed, but I can't help squeaking and jumping up and down!

Oh Jan, I've just discovered that Stanley Park doesn't have orcas any more, but it will still be worth a visit.
